Benedictine and North Central came together to honor the legacy of Coach Christian Staple last Saturday. Coach Staple died this past summer, and through his life, he was able to accomplish a lot in his coaching career.

Before joining the staff here at Benedictine, he served as an assistant at North Central College, and because he left an impact on both teams, this match will be an annual match switching locations and it includes a traveling trophy as well.

The proceeds for this match went to the Christan Staple Memorial Endowment for Men’s Volleyball. “It was awesome to see everyone who came and packed the stands to show support,” said Junior Mason Hayes. “It was also amazing to see all the people who participated in the fundraising events and purchased the ‘Love You Too’ T-shirts.”

Benedictine would lose the match to the talented North Central team 3-1, but when it is all said and done, this was to honor the legacy of Coach Staple as a man, coach, and leader in the community, and this annual match will help us always remember Coach Staple.
