With the Big Ten returning to action this week, college football will finally feel a little more like normal. Four of the big five football conferences are all playing this Saturday and there will be plenty of great matchups to watch. The Big Ten has a few big games, including #5 Ohio State versus Nebraska. Ohio State plans to continue the reign on the Big Ten and has their sites on a national championship. They will be led by Heisman candidate and starting quarterback Justin Fields. Adrian Martinez will start for the Cornhuskers after setting records as a freshman in 2018.
Another big game in the Big Ten this weekend is #18 Michigan versus #21 Minnesota. Minnesota plans to have a great season this year after finishing last year 10-2 beating teams like Penn State and Nebraska. Their season ended winning the Outback Bowl against #12 Auburn.
Michigan plans to have another winning season under head coach Jim Harbaugh, but many fans have wondered though whether or not this will be Harbaugh’s last season as head coach. If he loses against Ohio State at the end of the year, he could be fired. Harbaugh has not won a game against Ohio State during his time at Michigan.
Other great games this weekend include #2 Alabama versus Tennessee, #3 Notre Dame versus Pittsburgh, and #17 Iowa State versus #6 Oklahoma State. Alabama should continue to steamroll other SEC teams after crushing #3 Georgia 41-24. The Volunteers may keep this game a bit closer as they play at home in Neyland Stadium. Don’t be surprised if the Alabama defense continues to stop the opponent’s offense.
Notre Dame plans to continue their winning season as they are only playing ACC teams this season. Although the ACC is a weaker conference with only a few good teams like UNC, Clemson, and Virginia, Notre Dame should stay in the top 10 all throughout the season.
Lastly, Oklahoma State should continue to keep going up with a strong freshman class which is led by starting freshman quarterback, Shane Illingworth. Oklahoma State looks to claim the Big-12 title this year after Oklahoma has dominated in recent years.
