A public memorial was held for one of the best basketball players possibly of all time. On January 19, 2020 Kobe died and so did his daughter Gianna. His wife Vanessa Bryant held a eulogy for him that was not only very emotional for her but also everyone else who watched it. It was the first time she spoke publicly since the crash.

According to The New York Times, the two-hour memorial included performances from Beyoncé Knowles and Alicia Keys, and funny heartfelt moments from Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal.

According to NBC News, during Michael Jordan’s speech he stated “Everyone always wanted to talk about the comparisons between he and I,” Jordan said. “I just wanted to talk about Kobe.” He broke down but then attempted to brighten up the moment by adding “I’ll have to look at another crying meme”.
