As the temperatures are starting to fall outside, the Benedictine basketball teams are starting to heat up. At the halfway mark of their seasons, the men’s team currently has a record of 10-3 and the women’s team has a record of 11-2.

The men’s basketball team has been ranked as high as 19th in the nation so far this season. One of their biggest wins of the season took place on the road against North Central College, who was ranked 9th at the time. Their largest margin of victory took place when they throttled Marian University 102-35. The Eagles currently sit second in conference after a 1-point loss against conference leader Wisconsin Lutheran this past weekend.

The women’s basketball team is off to a great start as well. One of their only two losses of the season came against Hope College. Hope is currently undefeated and ranks third in the country. Their other loss came in Texas against East Texas Baptist University.

Allison Michalski is the leading point scorer for the Eagles averaging 19 points per game. Alex Fanning is second averaging 13.5 points with 11 rebounds per game. Michalski and Fanning have each been named NACC player of the week twice so far this season.
The Eagles are currently undefeated in conference play with wins against IIT, Lakeland, Dominican, Concordia Chicago, Marian, Alverno and Wisconsin Lutheran. Their win at Wisconsin Lutheran was the program’s first ever win at Wisconsin Lutheran.

Both teams are unbeaten at home and only have five home games remaining. The women play on Tuesday and Thursday while the men play on Wednesday and Saturday. Come out and support the Eagles!
