A school resource officer was arrested for child abuse charges when he was found slamming a teen to the ground by the teen’s throat. Deputy Willard Miller has been posted at the school since 2016. In the video* the deputy can be seen standing in the same room with the girl, and as she walks towards him with her hands in her pocket, the deputy can be seen crossing the room and slamming the girl to the floor by her neck. He then turns her around on to her stomach and can be seen saying something before pushing her into a room. According to Broward county “The way the deputy responds, for whatever occurred, whatever type of verbal dialogue was going on, it makes no sense and it wasn’t necessary,” stated Broward County Sherriff Gregory Tony. It is still unclear as to why the deputy responded that way. The teen is a student at Cross Creek School which specializes in children with emotional needs. Deputy Miller has been suspended with no pay and is currently on a $5,000 bond.
