Spooky season is back, and there’s so many haunted houses around Illinois to check out this year.
This first haunted house to check out this year is 13th Floor Haunted House in Melrose Park. It is considered to be “Chicago’s most horrifying haunted experience,” according to Patch. This haunted house may be too scary for young children, so they don’t recommend it for kids under the age of 12. The prices can vary between $19.99-$29.99 depending on when you’re looking to go.
HellsGate Haunted House is located in Lockport. According to Patch, it is a “multi-level mansion filled with secret passages, giant slides, ghastly secrets, undead abominations, really nervous groundskeepers and a darkness that the gate can no longer contain.” This haunted house even has an interactive escape room. General admission is $30.
Basement of the Dead Haunted House is located in Aurora. Buzzfeed rated this haunted house as the number 1 haunted house in the world. This haunted house is only for ages 13 and up because of how scary it is. General admission is $30.
Statesville Haunted Prison is also located in Lockport. According to Patch, “The prisoners have rioted, the guards have fled, a darkness has seized control of this maximum-security prison and our warden has opened the gates for visitors.” General admission into this haunted prison is $30.
Dorm of the Dead is a haunted house a little closer to home, located at Benedictine University in Lisle. This haunted house is in vacant dorm rooms that already have a high reputation of being one of the most haunted sites on the property. It is only open October 25 and October 26. Entrance fees are $15 for adults and $12 for high school students with ID.
