Bottle and Bottega was held at Coal Ben this past Thursday and it was quite the success. This event was sponsored by the programming board and was a part of their Thrilling Thursday series. Students were required to sign up in advance as seats did fill up fast! The event was held in the evening to accommodate the schedules of students.
Each student was provided with easels, paint and brushes with a picture to guide the night. Aides were there to help students, so painters of all levels had an enjoyable time.
“[It] was super stress relieving and it allowed me and my friends to have an all-around great time,” stated Rania Salem, a senior at Benedictine. “I haven’t been able to go in the past years…BU should most definitely do more events like these,” Salem said.
Traditionally, bottle and bottega is used as art therapy, in which art materials are used to reduce anxiety and stress through creative expression*. When asked, several students stated that this event successfully reduced their stress and was a good way to end their otherwise hectic week. Bottle and Bottega aims to help individuals relax in a comforting and chic environment, hence the lack of emphasis on artistic skill over overall fun**.
Any students that were unable to find time to attend this event should be on the lookout for the next Thrilling Thursday event!
