The Benedictine Eagles football team beat the Concordia-Wisconsin Falcons this Saturday by a score of 44-14 at the Lisle Sports Complex. The win improved the Eagles to 2-0 in the NACC conference on the season.
“Coach pushed us hard this week and we went out and executed in all facets of the game,” said Sophomore Offensive Lineman JP Malone, “We went out and got the win and now we are looking forward to taking on Lakeland this coming week.”
The Eagles did not waste any time getting on the scoreboard on the day of their homecoming game. After only seven minutes of play, Benedictine opened up the scoring when Senior Quarterback Ryan Sample led the Eagles 65 yards down the field and connected on a 15-yard touchdown pass to Wide Receiver Brandon Moore.
Concordia-Wisconsin fought right back and drove down the field and scored a touchdown, but the Eagles immediately answered back with another touchdown of their own. Sample connected once again with Moore, this time on a 75-yard touchdown pass.
Concordia once again put up points in their next drive, but the Eagles would then go on to score 25 unanswered points. Sample would total 413 yards through the air while throwing five touchdowns capping off his huge day. Three of those touchdown passes were caught by Moore who totaled 159 yards receiving on the day.
Evantrae Pierce led the way for the Eagles defense who didn’t allow a single point after the first quarter. Pierce’s nine tackles were the most of any Eagles defenseman and helped the team secure the victory.
The Eagles will travel to Lakeland this weekend to take on the defending NACC champions.
