Men’s Volleyball Score A Win

This past Friday men’s volleyball defeated Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). They won all three of the sets.
“IIT gave us a solid fight and we managed to stay on top at the end. I was glad to see the guys respond well to their fights and happy to see several guys step up in that situation. Now the focus is to fight for a playoff spot in a competitive conference in these last two matches this year,” said head coach Daniel Buehring.
Benedictine scored the first point then continued forward to the win of the first set. The score ended with 25-14.
Both teams tied multiple times throughout the second set. A kill from sophomore Dan Gibadlo helped Benedictine move ahead to 27-26 towards the end. A block from Gibadlo and sophomore Markus Riemer made another victory for Benedictine. The second set ended with 28-26.
Benedictine gained the lead once again and the opponent could not surpass them. The score ended with 25-16 for the third set.
“We had a great win against IIT on Friday, we were able to see our team perform with different lineups then we usually have in and that was exciting for everyone. We’re practicing and competing during spring break and not many other teams can say that, we’re staying focused on our goals and we are excited for our upcoming matches and where the rest of our season will take us,” said senior Jonathan Mueller.
The following games for men’s volleyball will both be off campus. This Friday Benedictine will be playing against Marian University at 7 p.m. Another game will be on Saturday against Lakeland College at 1 p.m.
