The week of March 14 to March 20 is brain awareness week, a celebration created by The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives (DANA) that is dedicated to bring attention to advances in brain sciences and help raise money for more brain related research. According to the DANA website, the organization’s goal is to, “Increase your visibility by advancing your mission within the broader context of a global education initiative. Spread the word about the importance of brain research and its critical role in helping people lead healthier, more productive lives. Arm the public with the knowledge and information they need to make informed decisions about their health. Insure a future for neuroscientific discovery by inspiring the next generation of scientists” states DANA.org.
The organization sets up lectures, workshops, displays among other things. The DANA Foundation also supports projects by awarding applicants with grants. This year 79 applications from 28 European countries were submitted and 36 projects received grants from the organization for projects and research according to Fens.org.
If you are interested in brain awareness week, you would like to set up a project, or you would like to participate in some of the activities the organization has set up, please visit Dana.org and check out their event calendar or register for an event. It is time to celebrate!
