Men’s volleyball defeated Olivet College this past Saturday afternoon with winning all three sets. This has become their 13 win of their season.
“We were focused on goals we set for ourselves this weekend and hit most of them. We are looking forward to working hard this week in practice to earn a win on Friday. The guys are working their butts off and having a good time doing it. I’m excited to see what they do next week!”, said head coach Dan Buehring.
Olivet began with a three point lead in the first half. Benedictine catches up to Olivet which resulted in a tie of 5-5. Both teams rallied in points until Benedictine advanced forward to take the win of the first set with 25-19.
Olivet again started in the lead, but Benedictine took quick action and over passed Olivet with 13-8 of the second set. Olivet scored another two points, then Benedictine stretched their lead to eight points ahead. Benedictine took in another win. The end score result of the second set was 25-14.
Benedictine was the first to score a point in the third set. Points rallied between both teams until Benedictine scored 13 consecutive points which advanced them in the lead by 10 points. Benedictine again won another set. The score for the last set was 25-14.
“We had a nice win against Olivet College today because we had really great energy and focus. We’re staying focused on our goals and we’re going to be ready for Dominican on Friday, that game will have a huge significance on where our season is taking us”, said senior Jon Mueller. “So these wins we got this past weekend were a nice refresher for us and we’re hoping to take that energy and focus into this next week of practice and be ready to bring it next Friday at Dominican”.
The following game for men’s volleyball will be March 18 off campus facing against Dominican University at 7 p.m.
