On Friday, October 16, the Benedictine student body got their groove on at the Homecoming Dance. In past years, the soiree was held at Harry Carey’s Italian Steakhouse but this year the venue was changed to the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Naperville.
“I thought programming board put together a nice event for a great price. I had a wonderful time at the dance!” said senior Ryan Donato.
Everyone looked stunning in their nice shirts, sparkly dresses, shining shoes and glistening heels; thankfully no one tripped at this road trip themed homecoming. The night began with a little something new: a cocktail hour held outside of the banquet hall where refreshments and freshly sliced fruits and vegetables were served.
After a lovely hour of snacking, mingling, and selfie-taking, students entered the banquet hall where their dinner awaited them. The three course meal started off with a salad, followed by a delicious chicken or pasta dish, and ended with everyone’s favorite: an ice cream topped tiramisu.
Students were given a small bag for a candy buffet. Never before have the words candy and buffet come together until now. Once students came out of their food comas, they danced the night away to classic hits like “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot and throwback jams by the Backstreet Boys. Students whipped and nae-nae’d across the dance floor and slow danced to John Legend’s “All of Me.”
Senior Alfira Bakri, a student visiting from China said, “I love that the DJ can get everyone out on the dance floor to dance together and have a good time. We don’t have events like this in China, so it was very special.”
Most would agree the dance was a success. The road trip themed dance took everyone for an unforgettable ride filled with good food, great music, and lots of memories.
