It’s safe to say that most people that listened to the radio this summer are bound to recognize most of the songs on this list. Songs that top the Billboards during the summer months seem to hold a special place in the hearts of young people. They either become the “summer anthem” or the annoying song that you can’t seem to shake from your head. Either way, they’re unavoidable because most radio stations appear to have them stuck on repeat.
“Cheerleader” by OMI
OMI’s hit takes the title as “Song of the Summer.” It’s great to see a song top the Billboards that uses trumpets. The upbeat mix of pop and reggae gives this song a distinctive trait from the rest of the songs on this list.
“Photograph” by Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran has a voice of an angel. He could sing my grocery list and I would see him in concert. That being said, Photograph is an amazing song with an even more amazing music video. Leave it to Sheeran for singing another beautiful, melancholy song!
“Honey, I’m Good” by Andy Grammer
This is a typical summer song, which isn’t bad. This is actually one of the only songs that I’ve enjoyed hearing on repeat. That being said, the music video is absolutely adorable.
“Fight Song” by Rachel Platten
I thought that this was Taylor Swift for the longest time. The positivity in this song is incredible. I am a fan of this new wave of songs that make you feel like you could take on the world.
“Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon
This song has a cool 80s vibe and is very catchy, but the music video is terrible. It reminds me of my seventh grade PowerPoint presentations when I discovered the “effects” tab.
