Benedictine University programming board hosted the annual Spring Ball, at the Hard Rock Café in downtown Chicago on Friday. There were 235 students who attended spring ball this year, reaching the full capacity in the room.
This year students were able to purchase tickets online. Tickets went on sale in early March and sold out in less than a month. Many students were placed on a waitlist.
“It took a lot of work to plan Spring Ball. All of that hard work was worth it when I saw so many people out on the dance floor having fun. Programming Board just wants to give students a chance to celebrate and have fun. That would not happen without the help of Katie Buell and Residence Life,” said junior Katie Miller, President of Programming Board.
When students arrived downtown, they were seated for dinner. They were served a salad, chicken, asparagus and mashed potatoes for their main course. Those who choose the vegetarian option feasted on zucchini spaghetti. Cheesecake was served for dessert.
Once dinner was over, students danced the night away with the help of the DJ. Students danced to a number of throwback hits as well as current top charting songs. In addition to the delicious dinner and nice tunes, students took full advantage of the photo booth that was available. Those who were 21 and older could purchase alcoholic beverages.
As the clock stroke midnight, students piled back onto the busses to head back to school.
“I have gone to every Spring Ball since my freshman year at Benedictine and never have I seen the room so packed! The turn out was great and the food was excellent,” said senior Gina Doughney.
