Men’s lacrosse set the record when they won their 11th game on Wednesday when they played against Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).
“This was a great team win. We did a really good job getting balls deep in the offensive zone and finding the back of the net,” said junior Steve Sladek.
Benedictine placed in the lead by scoring four goals in a row in the first quarter. Junior Andrew Zmijewski, junior Blake Keenan and sophomore Trevor Manzke made the goals. MSOE scored two goals then Zmijewski scored another by the end of the first quarter. The score became 5-2 at the end of the first quarter.
Benedictine continued to be in the lead in the following quarter. Freshman David Blanco furthered the lead at the start of the second quarter, and then MSOE scored a goal. Two more goals were made by the Eagles, ending the second quarter with a score of 8-3. The two goals were made by freshman Dominic DePinto and freshman Corban Gett.
MSOE scored one goal during the beginning of the third quarter. Two goals were scored by Blanco with the assist of sophomore Kyle Wagner and another with the assist of junior Jeremy Voyd
Two goals in a row were made by Benedictine, both scored by Keenan. Two more goals were scored by MSOE. Benedictine made the last three goals of the final quarter. Sophomore Patrick Courteau with the assist from Manke scored one of the goals. Another two goals by freshman Tony DePinto, who sealed the 11th win for men’s lacrosse.
“We did a good job shooting the ball low on the goalie and putting the ball in the back of the net. Our defense got a ton of caused turnovers and ground balls that helped the offense get more possessions,” said Dominic DePinto.
The next game for men’s lacrosse before the conference tournament will be on April 23 against Aurora University in Aurora at 4 p.m.
