If you are looking for something to do on campus when you’re feeling bored, there are a few options. You can either do homework and catch up on some studying, hang out with your friends in BenUnion, or you can find somewhere quiet and read a good book. Reading a book takes your mind off of the things that you may be thinking about and allows you to escape into the world created from words on a written page. It gives you a chance to step back from the stress going on in your life and lets you see what types of creative works people have written. If you choose to do this but you are having trouble finding a good book to pick up, here are a few books that are sure to spark anyone’s interest.

American Sniper by Chris Kyle
Ever since the story of the American sniper became a blockbuster film, people might be wondering how the book compares to the film adaptation. In case you aren’t aware, this is an autobiography that tells the stories of a U.S. Navy Seal who has the most recorded sniper kills in United States military history. His fellow soldiers call him a true legend because of how hard he fought for his country; however, the enemy was called the devil since he was truly bad around the time. Kyle tells the stories of his hard times in the war, the loving relationship that he shared with his wife, and his life before he died in 2013. It is truly gripping and unforgettable as he recounts his experiences on the battlefield.

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
From the author who came up with the idea of Gone Girl comes another thrilling tale full of murder, mystery, and mischievous actions. This tells the tale of Libby Day, a girl who had her mother and sister murdered when she was only seven years old. She has testified that her older brother was the one who decided to kill the ones that she loved. The Kill Club recruits Libby and tells her the details of what happened since they are obsessed with notorious crimes. They all discover that the truth may free her brother of his troubles and may discover who the actual killers were who have done the crime.

Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Some people might be more into reading a book that will make them laugh for a minute or two. This is written from the author who has starred in movies like Baby Mama and television shows such as Parks and Recreation. If you have ever wanted to get the chance to know this wonderful actress as a true individual, now is your chance. The book includes a variety of stories, lists, poems, photos and advice that have to deal with her life so one may try to deal with your life in her way. Honest, righteous, and real, Yes Please is full of words in which one should live by so they can be happy.
