This past weekend the men’s Lacrosse team played against Fontbonne University on Saturday at BenU.
“This was a great team win. It was awesome to see some guys get some out there who normally do not and show off their talent too,” stated junior Steve Sladek.
Junior Blake Keenan scored the first goal during the first quarter, which started the lead for Benedictine that continued throughout the entire game. Fontbonne followed behind Benedictine as the Eagles continued scoring more goals. The score became 6-3 by the end of the first quarter. Both teams had short rally of goals to start off the second quarter then Benedictine proceeded to score six goals in a row. This created a larger lead for Benedictine with the score of 13-5.
Benedictine made five more goals while Fontbonne scored none in the following quarter. Benedictine made another five goals while the other team only managed to score one goal in the last quarter. The final score became 23-6. A new program record was set due to Benedictine scoring 23 goals in a single game.
“It was a good game to work on the little tweaks with our offense and defense. We also learned that we need to work on setting the tone for the game early instead of in the second half. Our goal is to win a championship this season and in order to do that we need to be able to start games better,” stated junior Rudy Berg.
Men’s lacrosse will host Southwestern University at 5 p.m. this Friday at home.
