Benedictine University’s Commuter Services hosted an event for commuter students in the guise of a candy bar to celebrate the Valentine season, on Wednesday, February 11.

The bar came equipped with a variety of candy choices ranging from M & M’s to Sour Patch candy, topped with a cookie decorating section where students could decorate their heart-shaped cookies with icing and sprinkles.

“I thought the commuter candy event was a nice way to brighten someone’s day. It allowed for the opportunity to take a short break from rigorous classes and feel like a kid again by eating some sweet treats for Valentine’s Day,” said Commuter Assistant, Amy Zoglauer.

The idea was drawn up by the commuter assistants, and made reality by Sodexo.

This event was set up to look like a type of static conveyer belt, meaning students started at one end with an empty bag and ended up with a full bag of mixed candy and a decorated cookie.

A consistent flow of commuter students attended the candy station.

“The cookie decorating part of the event was really fun. The cookies tasted great and everyone enjoyed picking out their favorite candy. Definitely was a sweet part of Valentine’s Day,” said senior Sarah Jaber.

Next month Commuter Services will be hosting the Commuter Appreciation Month, as well as a Commuter Breakfast.
