Benedictine University’s men’s basketball beat Milwaukee School of Engineering, 80-68, at one of their final home games this past Saturday afternoon. In addition to celebrating their big win, the team also honored the seniors on the basketball team at the Senior Night.

“We came into the game confident after beating our rival, Aurora. The combination of the Aurora win as well as the spark that our bench created helped us maintain a lead for the entire game,” said junior guard Michael Carter Jr.

MSOE started the first half with one point but Benedictine advanced in the lead. Sophomore forward Adam Reynolds and senior forward Tim McGinty both scored points. The opponent attempted to gain up to the Eagles but the Eagles continued scoring more points. Benedictine stayed in the lead throughout the entire two halves of the game. By the end of the first half the score was 30-21.

Benedictine and MSOE went back and forth with the points in the second half. The Eagles advanced their lead quickly. Sophomore guard Tahron Harvey scored a total of 6 points, which increased the lead to 61-39. The final two points at the end of the game were made by McGinty.

McGinty scored a total of 24 points, while Junior guard John Dodson scored 13 points. Reynolds also scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds. Harvey netted 11 points and Senior guard Kevin Rollins scored 10 points.

“Complete game on both ends of the floor. McGinty had a great night and I am so happy for him, especially on senior night. Proud of our effort as a team and if we continue to move the ball and be unselfish, we can finish strong,” said head coach Keither Bunkenburg.

Men’s basketball will be on the road this Saturday playing Lakeland College in Plymouth, WI at 8 p.m. Currently, Benedictine holds an overall record of 14-8 and a conference record of 12-5.

“This was a big win for us on Tim and Kevin’s senior night. They are phenomenal leaders and they deserve nothing but success on the basketball court. Since we are still hoping to win the regular season conference title, every game is important. This was a big win for us,” said Reynolds.
