Benedictine University’s women’s volleyball team has been ranked third in the NACC preseason poll.
Benedictine placed third, with Edgewood taking first place and Dominican taking second place. The competition will be fierce, but it is nothing that the girls cannot handle. In the past five seasons, BenU women’s volleyball has held a record of 49-10 in conference play. In the 2013 season, the eagles finished with a 17-6 record and a 9-2-conference record. In their 2012 season, the girls won the NACC championship.
“My teammates and I are looking forward to the upcoming season and cannot wait to go after that NACC title! Everyone is working hard and is super excited for what the future holds,” said junior Beckie Whitmarsh.
The eagles are picking up three freshmen this season and welcome back their first time all NACC setter senior Abby Screnock.
“Everyone is looking great and the team is really coming together. We are all looking forward to a competitive season!” said Screnock.
The eagles season opener will take place at the Viking Classic held on August 29th at Augustana College. Their first home game will take place September 11th against Wheaton College at 7pm.
“I’m really looking forward to attending the matches. Women’s volleyball is exciting. You can just feel the intensity move from the court to the fans in the stands.” said senior Mike Krueger.
