Since their win against Concordia Wisconsin on April 19th, the Benedictine softball team has dominated the last quarter of their regular season winning games against Dominican University, Elmhurst College, Concordia Chicago, and Alverno College.

Their first double-header against Dominican was played last Monday on the road. The first game, the Eagles shut out Dominican and scored two runs to win the game. The second game was more of a fight as both teams came out strong scoring runs in almost every inning. The game went into extra innings as both teams were tied at five points after seven innings. In the eighth inning, the Eagles hammered out four runs to finish the game with a score of 9-5.

Their next double-header took place last Tuesday against Elmhurst College. The Eagles defeated them easily during the first game not allowing any runs until the seventh inning. That game ended with a score of 7-1. The second game went into nine innings as both teams were tied at two by the end of the seventh inning. The Eagles took another victory by one point, 4-3.

The Eagles played a double-header against Concordia University in Chicago on Friday. The Eagles defeated Concordia 8-5 in the first game and then shut out the competition in the second game, 9-0.

Finally, the Eagles played their last double header of the regular season at home on Saturday against Alverno College. Game one started slow at first with the first three innings scoreless. Alverno scored four runs in the fourth inning and then didn’t score any more for the rest of the game. Benedictine answered their four runs with two of their own in the fourth inning. They continued to score until the game ended with the Eagle taking the win 5-4.

In game two, Alverno started the scoring in the first inning with one run. The Eagles did not allow them to score again for the rest of the game. Benedictine didn’t score until the third inning, but when they did, they scored four runs in the third and then three in the fourth inning. They ended their finally game of the regular season 9-1.

The Conference Tournament will start on May 1st and the Eagles will start with a record of 16-6 in Conference.
