The Eagles baseball team lost two heartbreakers at home to Edgewood College in a double header on Saturday.
In the first game, the Eagles’ ninth inning rally fell short, as they lost 5-4 despite scoring two runs in the last frame.
Senior Pitcher Kevin Crowley took the complete game loss for the Eagles. Senior Shortstop Nick Karakosta drove in two runs on a home run and a sacrifice fly.
In the second game, the Eagles lost 12-10 despite scoring again in the ninth.
Sophomore Pitcher Pat Cashman failed to get through three innings as he allowed seven runs, four of those earned.
The Eagles tied the game in the 5th on two-run singles by sophomore center fielder Tim Hendricks, but they failed to prevent Edgewood from scoring more runs. Karakosta and senior designated hitter Kevin Hendricks each had two runs batted in, in the game. Benedictine’s record now sits at 14-6, 5-3. They will play Elmhurst on the road on Thursday at 3 p.m.
