The Benedictine University men’s lacrosse team continued their winning ways this past Saturday at MSOE by defeating the Raiders 16-6.
With the win, the Eagles have now won two in a row and are 4-5 in the season and 2-1 in Midwest Lacrosse Conference play.
The Eagle started strong, holding a 3-1 lead after one quarter of play. After that, the Eagles opened the game up as they out-scored the Raiders 6-0 in the second quarter, to make it a 9-1 Eagles lead at halftime.
Early in the third quarter the Eagles pushed the lead to 11-1, with goals from Tyler Buschow and Connor Mersch, giving the Eagles 10 unanswered goals for the game, the Eagles eventually won the contest by a score of 16-6.
The Eagles out-shot the Raiders 48-2 for the game and controlled the game both offensively and defensively.
Mersch led the scoring for the Eagles as he finished with four goals and three assists on the day, upping his season totals to 23 goals and 10 assists, both of which are leading the team. Tyler Bushow and Eric Orndaof also contributed big in the win, scoring three goals apiece.
Jeffrey Smitheram had another strong performance in the net, saving six shots and earning the win.
