Eagles lacrosse achieve a big win and face big losses

The BenU Eagles men’s Lacrosse team was in action over this spring break. They played Trine College in South Bend, Berry College in Georgia, and closed their trip with a game against Sewanee: The University of the South.

The men’s team went 0-3 on this trip, losing the first game against Trine College 14-9, the second game to Berry 1-0 which was stopped due to the weather conditions, and the third game against Sewanee 19-5.

However, on March 23rd, the men’s lacrosse team notched a huge win over Fontbonne University in overtime by a score of 14-13.

This win marked the first ever conference victory for the Eagles. The Eagles were led by Robert Abbott’s five goals, Andrew Zmijewski’s three goals, and Connor Mersch, Zachary MacLachlan, Tyler Buschow each scoring two goals apiece. Jeffrey Smitheram came up huge in goal, by stopping 15 shots.

The Eagles hope to continue their winning ways this Saturday when they face another conference foe, MSOE, at 1pm.
