The BenU Eagles Men’s lacrosse team opened up their Midwest Lacrosse Conference play against Mount Saint Joseph this past Saturday, losing 10-4.
Mount Saint Joseph stormed out of the gate, jumping to an early 3-0 lead, before Zach MacLachlan tallied the first BenU goal mid-way through the second quarter. However, MSJ scored the game’s next three goals and led 6-1 at halftime.
Tyler Buschow got his name in the stats sheet by scoring the Eagles’ second goal, but again the Lions of MSJ came back to score twice more. Robert Abbott and Conor Mersch rounded out the scoring for the Eagles soon thereafter.
Mount St. Joseph controlled a majority of the clock, as they outshot the Eagles 40-16. However, Jeffrey Smitheram was able to stop 16 shots for BenU.
The Eagles’ next opponent is Beloit College this Wednesday night at 7pm in the Sports Complex.
