By Tom Brown

The Benedictine University Eagles dropped a 57-51 on Northern Athletics Conference opponent Edgewood College on Saturday at the Dan and Ada Rice Center.

BenU led by eight points with eight minutes left but were unable to hold off the Edgewood Eagles in the second half who went on a 9-1 run to tie the game with 6:18 left in the game.

Both teams struggled offensively with BenU shooting just 37% and Edgewood shooting 38% but the difference was at the free throw line as Edgewood outshot Benedictine 85% to 41%.

BenU was without a double figure scorer in the contest as they had both Dale Renshaw and Dan Montano each scoring eight points, while Tim McGinty chipped in 7 points and 8 rebounds.

Edgewood had two players in double figures as Dylan Rusch had 12 points and Joe Klocek had 11.

With the loss, the BenU Eagles are now 3-13 overall and 1-6 in Northern Athletics play with a tough stretch of conference games upon them.

The first of those games will be the Eagles next game as they take on Concordia Chicago on Tuesday night at the Rice Center.
