Eagle’s Split vs. Wisconsin Lutheran: Loss in game one ends Ben U’s seven game win streak

The Benedictine University Baseball team split a doubleheader with Wisconsin Lutheran University on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.

The Eagles started the scoring in game one as Uli Ortiz scored on a John Cervantes RBI single. The Warriors would strike back runs in both the second and third innings to take the lead 2-1.

After Ben U tied the game in the eighth the Warriors responded again, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth, to take home a 5-2 victory.

Kevin Crowley took the loss in game one for the Eagles lasting seven innings and giving up four earned runs. At the plate Uli Ortiz led the Eagles with two hits.

The Eagles responded ferociously to their game one loss in game two. The Eagles tallied 10 runs and 15 hits for the contest including an eight run fourth inning. Dan Zust, Ryan Mullin, Cervantes, and Tim Gindville each had RBI’s in the decisive fourth inning.

That was all the offense the Eagles would need as Nick Diessner pitched eight innings of one run ball.

Ben U which has already clinched a spot in the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament will play in a nonconference road came at North Central College Wednesday at 3:00.
