DKNY shines during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

By Rohaina Hassan

As we say goodbye to the 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, it is necessary to provide coverage to some of the shows that wowed those in attendance. Namely, DKNY, which is the most versatile fashion brand, and honestly the most realistic for women and men who are concerned about classics and quality.

Since 1984, DKNY has taken over the fashion industry with its handful of items that constitute a wardrobe. According to the official Mercedes Benz Fashion Week site, “quintessential hallmarks include black cashmere, leather, stretch and molded fabrics, often developed by Karan, as well as silhouettes that wrap and sculpt the body”. The empire has grown to a household name and continues to provide time conscious clothing, and this Fall/Winter 2012 show was no different.

Taking inspiration from the city of New York, black was a large presence among the styles on the runway. This color came in the form of wool and leather through jackets, skirts and dresses. At some points even combining the two fabrics, or sometimes wool and faux fur. Other colors present (although minimal) included gray, navy blue, red, and magenta. Prints that made a debut include large florals, snakeskin, and cheetah. Although the main emphasis was very New York, there was an air of sultriness that reminded us of Paris and its seductive charm.

DKNY has once again sculpted the daily uniform that everyone will all be rocking this upcoming Fall.
