As the nation was captivated by the Superbowl, countless shoppers awaited the release of Jason Wu’s Target collection.
This trend of more upscale designers collaborating with a more mass-friendly store is nothing new; in the past, H&M has worked with Versace and Karl Lagerfeld. Target has unveiled collections from Anna Sui and Rodarte. The most newsworthy however was Missoni, which sold out within minutes in stores and crashed the Target.com website.
When Jason Wu was announced there were high chances of history repeating itself, but surprisingly it didn’t. While some stores were sold out because of eager fans waiting since 6 a.m., you can still snag some designer dresses online or by putting in your zip code to see if the items are available.
Budget-conscious fashion fans aren’t the only ones in love with Jason Wu’s designs. Notable celebrities seen spotted in his designs include Blake Lively, Emmy Rossum and even Michelle Obama. The line was unveiled in stores nationwide, but Jason and his fashionable guests were seen celebrating during the launch party at Skylight SOHO in New York.
The looks range from sweet and sassy to chic and classy. The line takes inspiration from the 60’s and Parisian style with the structured and flattering cuts, but adds a modern twist with the colors and styling. These designs are perfect for the upcoming spring season, with fabrics that are light, easy and low maintenance.
