The group that has released hits such as “Hot Mess”, “Good Girls Go Bad”, and “You Make Me Feel So…” will be making their way to Benedictine’s BenBash on Saturday, April 28 at 8 p.m. in the Dan and Ada Rice Center
The event, which is sponsored by Alumni Relations, Liberty Mutual and 103.5 Kiss FM, is the spring equivalent of BenFest. While BenFest is to welcome new students to the Benedictine community, BenBash is to say goodbye.
“BenBash is for us to recognize our graduating seniors, congratulate them and then welcome them into our Alumni Association,” says Deborah Smith, director of university events.
In preparation for the event, Alumni Relations works in conjunction with many organizations and departments on campus.
“It takes a village to put on a concert,” said Smith, who also works with a promoter to determine who will be performing at events that require celebrity acts.
The BenBash event is $15 per student and $20 for non-BenU students, and there are 800 floor seats reserved for BenU students only. All graduating seniors receive a complimentary ticket until March 16. Also, in honor of BenU’s 125th Anniversary, the first 125 BenU students who get tickets will be nominated to win a Kindle Fire. Tickets may be purchased online by visiting www.ben.edu/BenBash using a promotional code or in the Alumni Relations office located in Scholl.
“I really encourage the students to get their tickets early,” said Smith.
Not surprisingly, students are especially excited about BenBash this year.
“I went to [see] the Plain White T’s and was so impressed that BenU could get them, and I am so excited about this year’s BenBash,” said BenU junior Caitlin Berrisworth.
“I am excited for BenBash, and the Cobra Starship act will make it even better,” enthused junior Michael Brown.
Alumni Relations is currently making preparations forthe BenFest concert, which is currently scheduled for August 25.
