The Candor

A little advice from T’n’C

Dear T’n’C,

I want to go workout at the new gym in the Rice center, but I am self-conscious because I don’t normally workout and I don’t know where to go or what to do. I am really intimidated by the stronger and muscular people there. What should I do?

Love, Wants to Workout

Dear Wants to Workout,

First, have some confidence. Not everyone who goes to the gym is a body-builder. Secondly, bring a buddy. Go with a friend or a group of people to work-out. Usually, it is more helpful to go with a buddy than alone. Thirdly, don’t stress about it. If you are unsure what to do for your workout or how to work a machine, ask someone or ask a worker. Anyone would be more than willing to help. Even though you may feel people are judging you when you are working out, they aren’t. Everyone is in their own zone.  Good luck and remember to have confidence.

Love,

T’n’C
Dear T’n’C,

I enrolled in my classes on-line, but I didn’t get into all of the ones I wanted and don’t know what other classes I should take. I am just a freshman and am unsure what to do. Can you help me?

Love, Stressed Student

Dear Stressed Student,

Registering for classes can be a bit overwhelming and scary the first time you do it. Remember to take a deep breath and tell yourself everything will be fine. If you didn’t get into all of your classes don’t worry. BU offers countless number of classes. Especially as a freshman, you can take any core electives. You can look at your course requirement sheet, and then using that, look on-line for other possible classes you can take. If you are still troubled, ask your advisor what to do because they are always willing to help. Don’t stress because there are so many people here who will help you.

Best of luck.

Love,

T’n’C
