Both the Men’s and Women’s golf teams competed at the Northern Athletics Conference championships recently. The Women’s tournament was held from Oct. 2-4 at St. Andrew’s Golf and Country Club in West Chicago, Ill., while the Men’s tournament was from Oct. 8-10 at Whistling Straights in Haven, Wisconsin.

In the Women’s Tournament, junior Alexis Wadowski placed second. After a slow start and shooting a 91 in the first day of the tournament, she shot a 79 on day two and an 83 on day three to recover.

Her performance at the NAC tournament earned her all-conference honors.

“I feel great about it, worked so hard all season,” explained Wadowski. “It was really close after the first and second round, so it was great to break through those ties and finish second.”

Also, junior Cathryn Connolly was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship team for the third straight year. The Lady Eagles places eighth as a team.

The Women’s team is finished for the fall season, and they are looking forward to competing in the spring.

“While it’s still nice out, I’ll be at the range working on some things,” Wadowski added, “and we plan on going to the dome this winter. We all know are goals for next semester, we just have to work for them now.”

On the Men’s side, the Eagles finished in fourth place as a team. Individually, the Eagles were paced by senior Dan Lagerstrom. The Crestwood, Ill. native finished in a tie for tenth place overall.

“We played well the first day and were only three shots back, but we didn’t play too well the second day and fell to 24 shots back” explained Lagerstrom.

Much like the Women’s team, the men are excited to get to work this winter in hopes of improving.

“We will use the practice facility in the Rice Center,” Lagerstrom said, “and some of us will take some lessons with teaching pros.”
