Summer is officially over and winter will be here soon. Everything will be covered in beautiful white snow. We will have so many holidays and are pumped for skate boarding surely. Most of the people will drink hot coca with snacks every day. Winter also has a drawback, however. Oh this winter, not only makes us lazy but also brings a couple of pounds for everyone to share (maybe that’s why Santa has a belly). After all, who wants to leave their warm, comfortable beds on cold winter mornings and go for a run; there is no question of doing any outdoor exercise. This winter, don’t turn into a couch potato because there are many ways to stay fit and as we all know where there is a will, there is a way.
Firstly, the most important thing is to watch your diet. Especially, if you know that you are the kind of person who would not be able to get enough work out to burn the extra calories you take in. During college, students are involved in a lot of club activities. Every club meeting has pizza and soda; bring water instead and cut down a slice or two. In addition, Halloween, Thanksgivings and Christmas and then New Year’s Celebrations all take place when the weather is cold; food is primary at every occasion. Try to eat healthier foods, share your Halloween candy with roommates, and don’t spend too much time at the dessert table. If grandma’s pumpkin spice pie is too irresistible, make sure to limit yourself from all other desserts. Moderation is key.
I asked a couple of students about how they stay healthy during winter. Sree Bodepudi, a freshmen, said, “I have a membership at a gym YMCA. At gym, I can go with my friends and get a nice workout. Another way to stay fit in winter is by performing our daily chores like shuffling snow.” I totally agree with Sree; performing our daily tasks can also help us stay fit.
